I was involved in a discussion today in regards to regimental colors flying in camp. Was it done in real life or is it a re-enactor thing. If the practice was done in real life, where was the flagpole; at the regimental commanders tent, other tent? Or did the regimental color sergeant keep the colors furled in his tent until formation? In the discussion, I mentioned that in Gods and Generals and other WBTS movies, I did not recall seeing any colors flying in Camp scenes except for the main flagpole with the national colors flying.
