Just a note to tell you and George Martin how much one passive reader enjoys your exchanges. The info on Tillinghast is a cameo example. Aside from his survival (almost a miracle in itself), the reunion, the heritage to his son ... and the final preservation in the state museum, make me think of a number of adjectives that his old C.O. could add to those of his wartime kudos.
