Ensign, 50th Alabama Infantry

S. Coker, age 21, Private, Capt. N. N. Clements' Company of Infantry, mustered in October 7, 1861, promoted Sergeant, n.d., recommended for appointment as 1st Lieutenant and Ensign March 30, 1864, the previous color bearer had forfeited claim to this promotion by leaving his colors on the filed at Chickamauga claiming he was wounded when such was not the case, recommended and forwarded to Sec. of War June 14, Sgt. Coker wounded severely in hip July 28, 1864, near Atlanta, Ga., no further records, description on enlistment: 21 year old Farmer, born in Tuscaloosa, Ala, 6' 1/4", light hair, gray eyes
