Re: The flag on a ship. The ORs only mentioned two flags (the one flying and a discovered confederate flag) on the blockade runner, Emilie, which had Daniel Vincent from Charleston as the captain, captured in Charleston and a Trenholm owned ship. I am thinking it was probably ported in Charleston, also. If any ship, considering his brother was in the flag business, would have had a palmetto flag, I think it would have been his. Of course in the case of the Emilie a lot of the reports going back and forth were more concerned on how drunk the USN sailors were after they boarded and "discovered" the champagne. ROFLOL.
