Confederate-Flag.org has newspaper clips on the use of Palmetto flags going back to the 1850's or so. For the Citadel to claim that this is "Big Red" to total fabrication of the known facts. The flag on Morris Island did not have the moon in the upper corner, per eyewitness reports. The Baker flag came from Mobile and there is documentation of the use of Palmetto flags in use on ships from Mobile’s harbors.
