I was looking for guidons and found this, the colors of the 5th and 6th West Virginia Cavalry (federal) the garrison flag, and five guidons were captured by Payne's Brigade of General Rosser December 8, 1864 according to the official report which i pulled from google books. The federals were completely surprised by the attack and thus far only the two cavalry units mentioned occupied the fort.
