Excuse my lack of knowledge... but were certain companies designated as Color Guard companies? My great-grandfather's regiment has not ever listed a certain company as the Color Guard, yet I would be very interested in finding out what company and what soldiers were members of the color guard. He was in the 10th Kansas Infantry.
