(new) Co. H, 5th Arkansas Infantry, was recruited in Greene County. It was organized at Gainesville on September 28, 1861. Following are the original officers.

Kuykendall, John L—Captain.
Duke, Francis M—First Lieutenant.
Ellsberry, Thomas W—Second Lieutenant.
Boone, Arthur L—Third Lieutenant.

They were replaced by a new slate of officers during the reorganization of May 12, 1862.
