McBride, Leonidas Alexander Co. B Twenty-sixth Arkansas Infantry Regiment

Private McBride was born about 1832 in Shelby County, Tennessee, son of Robert C. and Jane M. (Foster) McBride. He married 08 Jul 1854 in Shelby County to Elizabeth Frances (Sanderlin) McBride, widow of his brother John, and they migrated to Arkansas in time for enumeration in the 1860 Census, Prairie Township Drew County, Arkansas, household of T.J. Berry (also of Company B). Leonidas was a farmer. He enlisted on 03 May 1862 at Monticello, Drew County, and he died 28 Jan 1863 from wounds received during the Battle of Prairie Grove on 07 Dec 1862, burial place unknown. He was the father of four children. Elizabeth applied for back pay 05 Jun 1863. She eventually migrated to Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, where she died 05 Jul 1878, burial believed to be in Tulip Cemetery, Claiborne Parish. Leonidas was a brother of Robert A., who served in Company A.
