Ok I think I've got it now. We've got the wrong Rayburn or Rayborne, I've seen it spelled several way. Weren't not talking about Doc Rayburn, but his brother Milton V. Rayburn, both were in the 12th Texas Cavalry. Something doesn't seem right here Milton was listed as deserted August 31, 1863, and all the exploits and reports I've seen are on Doc Rayburn with no mention of Milton. After Milton deserted I thought he just faded away and slipped back into Texas. What George has found, has opened a new door to the guerrilla activity in central Arkansas late war. I want to know more about both the Rayburn brothers activities. I helped identified a CDV for Larry Jones (Confederate Calendar Works) of Doc Rayburn back in 1980. Milton may have been keeping a low profile and using the spelling Raibon, just wondering.
