There would be no pension file. He was one of 6000 aprox. soldiers known as a "Galvinized Yankee". He has a service record with the 6th US Volunteers. He deserted at Fort Rankin, Colorado Territory in Aug 1865. He returned to Arkansas County where he originally enlisted at St. Charles. The family name gained an extra b to hide his identity along with an age change.
