I don't believe this report of Humphreys Battery being included in Wheelers Raid is correct. A review of John W. River's records show him signing for Forage for the battery at Missionary Ridge in October and November 1863.
I have also found:
requisition for forage, Missionary Ridge, 23 October through 22 November 1863.
Voucher for Clothing signed February 16, 1864, Dalton Georgia. where he signed for 75 Jackets, Capts, Drawers, Shirts, and 75 Pants,
requisition for fuel, 1st Arkansas Battery stationed at Atlanta Georgia, May 1864, 3 officers, 67 Enlisted Men.
Requisition for Medical Supplies, January 10 to Feby 10, 1865 and again April 1 to 20, 1865, Station, Macon GA.
Martin’s Battalion of Reserve Artillery, C. S.A. was a field organization composed of independent batteries from various states
