The men listed below are from a list of white men serving in the 1st Chickasaw Cavalry Battalion under Lt. Col. Martin Shecoe. The original battalion was formed in early 1862 under Lt. Col. J.D. Harris who was soon replaced by Lt. Col. Lemuel M. Reynolds who commanded the battalion until Oct. 1864. On Oct. 7, 1864, the battalion was reorganized under Shecoe and is commonly called Shecoe's Chickasaw Battalion. The battalion was intended for service in the Chickasaw Nation and was often stationed at Ft Washita and/or Ft Arbuckle. Shecoe's Battalion was put under the command of Col. Roswell W. Lee "on the northwest frontier of the Indian Territory". The only known muster roll for the battalion was made in Feb. 1865. The list of white men in the battalion was compiled in April 1865.
