Another thing, His records show him as CPT on his only CSR through Oct 31 1862. His successor, CPT Hayhurst takes over and is promoted as of Oct 31 1962. He did not die at the end of the war or after as Austin was in Federal hands. But many CS soldiers died there in the fall Aug-Nov 1862 so I would say he died during that time frame. Originally he organized a comany of Cavalry that was assigned to Hawthorne and redesignated infantry. Sickness at AUstin was rampant and over 1000 men died there inthat short time frame.
