In the reorganization after WC, it looks like they dropped 2 of the 6 lbers and added 2 12lb howitzers when the battery "became" Provence's Btty. Then at PG we see Reid again in charge of a battery under his own name but it now has two guns. Did Reid lose his command of the Ft. Smith battery to Mr. Provence and organize another one (the one we see at PG) or is it the same battery and Reid just reassumed command?

Drew -- When the battery reorganized after Wilson's Creek, Captain Reid did not stand for reelection, having accepted a staff position. The battery elected David Provence as captain on September 17, 1861. The battery Reid commanded at Prairie Grove was a new organization. His old Fort Smith battery was sent east of the Mississippi River and served there for the rest of the war.
