Re: Grave of Col.Joseph C. Porter

I have researched Col. Porter for years, and while his son is indeed buried in Porter Cemetery in Competition, Missouri, I fear that Col. Porter himself is not. I did some research this evening. Here is what I came up with.

Col. Porter made it to Batesville, AR. He did die there, and the letter mentioned earlier had me looking. I am pretty sure (not 100% though) that Col. B. Frank Gordon was the author of the letter. If we do a radius from Jacksonport, AR of about 10 miles -+ the ONLY cemetery that comes up is Surrounded Hill Cemetery. If you look in the background pictures of the cemetery you will notice several Pine Trees, is this the place of Porter's Grave? Who knows, but it's a GOOD START
