According to the Wikipedia information about the Arkansas State Troops, First Cavalry Regiment, Daniel R. McKissick was the Captain in charge of company F, from Benton Co., AR. John Hind's wife, Nancy Burnett, was a neighbor with the McKissicks. Also, The Hinds, Burnetts, and McKissicks were associated in Tennessee before they settled in AR. I think it is likely that John would have joined McKissick's group in 1861. Later, Daniel McKissick was acting captain of Company H of Watie's Reg't Cherokee Mounted Volunteers.
