That appears to be what happened to my GG Grandfather Pvt. Giles Taylor Co "I" 3rd Arkansas Inf. He disappears after Aug. 31st 1863, and no record of him ever returning home. I suspect that he met his end in the ditch in Vinard's Field on the first day of Chickamauga September 19th with a lot of other Arkansas boys..
