Sometimes being left to starve was as bad as anything else.
My ancestor was left with a houe full of kids and some slaves who depended on her after
her husband died in the Yankee Prison in Little Rock.
They also lost their home place because there was no money to pay the taxes.
Times were terrible all over the state after the war ended.
