Re: 33rd Arkansas Infantry Regiment

As for the 24th Arkansas men being in the 33rd Arkansas, it would require a lenghty discuss of the disorganization and reorganization of the 19th Arkansas, 24th Arkansas, Crawfords Battalion the 33rd Arkansas and Hart's Battery.

Surffice to say that I beleive that those men of the 24th had been left behind in the hospital or on hospital duty, at White Sulphur Springs when the order came for Gen Roane and Col Charles Dawson to move that brigade to St Charles. The 33rd Arkansas was the last to leave Sulphur Spring on the 4th of October '62 under the command of Col Shavers and Col Grinstead.

I can not comment with any reliability on the 12th and 15th, but I am aware that there were several wounded from the eastern theaters primarily from the evacuated hospital at Corinth , MS., that had recrossed the Mississippi in one manner or another either at Vicksburg or with Parson Missouri Infantry Brigade that seem to have found their way to Pine Bluff and Camp White Sulphur Springs and the hospital there.
