I've searched index and located a post from Mr. Howerton from 2004 in which he indicated he'd located a box in his files with a treasure trove of information on the 8th Ark. Infantry Battalion (not the regiment with it is sometimes confused). I located a few subsequent posts, including a letter from Lt. Col Batt Jones and a request to Beall at Pt. Hudson for permission to send someone to Arkansas to try to get food and blankets. I was wondering if there any additional documentation in these records. My great-great grandfather was in Company C and discharged on May 17, 1863 at Pt. Hudson (though I have no idea how he'd have managed to simply leave given the situation). I'm keen on finding out all I can about the outfit and any information is greatly appreciated.
