H.L. Wilson

I am still looking for the guy who issued this note in Yellville, Ark. October 1, 1862. It is signed H.L. Wilson. These merchant scrip notes were almost always issued in conjunction with a trade or business.

I have found two H.L. Wilson's:

1.Only identified as H.L. Wilson. Obit says.."resident of Pea Ridge, died at his home there Saturday at the ripe old age of eighty-six. Mr. Wilson had always lived there and was at the battle of Elkhorn Tavern". His application for a confederate pension identifies H.L. Wilson as belonging to Company K, 5th Texas Rangers, LM Martin, Col. and that he served from July 5, 1862 until May 15, 1865. Affidavit dated March 20, 1914. The signature on the application, dated June 24, 1915, does not appear to be the signature on the note although they are spaced 53 years apart and signatures change over time.

2. A Henry L Wilson, merchant, operating a dry goods store in Dardanelle, Yell County, Ark. I also found a listing for a Hunter and Wilson Store in Dardanelle so I assume that was the name of the store. Does anyone have a signature for this Henry L Wilson that I could compare to the note to see if this might be the same person? Or any other information on this Henry L Wilson?
