George, that's the article in its entirety. Considering that when Des Arc was occupied by the Federals later in the war, and the press and offices of the Des Arc Citizen were looted and destroyed, it amazes me that many of the 1861 issues of the paper were preserved. Notices of the organization of volunteer and home guard companies are among the little gems that survived the war, such as this one --

A volunteer company was organized at Brownsville, on Friday last, consisting of sixty-four members. The following officers were elected: R. S. Gantt, Captain; W. D. White, 1st Lieut.; W. P. Pool, 2nd Lieut.; J. T. Webster, 3rd Lieut.
