You are the top of the list, so I will start with you. My family has owned some land in Independence, Co. since the forties, due north of lock 2 on the White river. My nephew found two sets of cut stone "walls" two foot tall, loosely stacked, but definetly stacked, in the middle of the woods. They looked to me as skirmish walls, the upper one almost 3oo feet long, the lower, nearly 70 feet down the bluff, maybe 100 feet lone. They over look a small stream call Blue creek that runs into the White river, just below lock two. I think there was Confederate mauraders in the area, that harassed the Federals after Batesville was captured. do you have any information that could help me determine if these walls were Confederate sites, and what units may have been the area?
