Van Buren!

When Hindman CSA retreated from Prairie Grove, he moved along the Butterfield / Wire Road into Van Buren. Blunt and Herron USA followed him shortly thereafter. Battle of Dripping Spring south of Cedarville AR (December 28, 1862) was part of that retreat and pursuit. Historical Marker at AR-59 intersection with Uniontown Highway / Sarah Grove Lane.

Also, Cabell's CSA Route to Battle of Fayetteville (April 18, 1863) roughly followed Scenic Highway 71 route from Van Buren to Fayetteville. If you like, I have pdf of an article I have written on the Battle of Fayetteville route that I am happy to email to you. Contact kirby.sanders.biz@gmail.com
