The Prairie Grove Battlefield Park is just about sixty-two miles north of Ft. Smith. It is a well-tended battle site with an excellent visitor’s center. Just a bit farther on is the Pea Ridge National Military Park, equally well tended and with a very excellent visitor’s center. Pea Ridge is about 93 miles from Fort Smith.
