Miss Linda, according to the 1900 census, Robert Anderson Watts was born in NOV 1873. Too young to have been in the war. I know this to be Miss Hazel's father - he and wife, Lillie M., appear in that census record in Holmes County, MS. They appear in subsequent records that include Miss Hazel M. in the household. They were living in Phillips County in 1920 (Hazel was age 1, born in AR) and in Logan County in 1930 (Hazel was age 11, b. AR). It is possible that the soldier (R.A. Watts) was her paternal grandfather. Let me do some checking on that.
