The Louisiana Cavalry stationed at Monticello was most likely ordered there in response to the concentration of Confederate Infantry ordered there in August when General John B. Magruder took command of the District of Arkansas. We know that Parsons Texas Cavalry was there as well. With all the Confederate Cavalry gone with General Price to Missouri on their last Missouri raid, additional cavalry would be needed to patrol the roads towards Pine Bluff and Gaines Landing to watch for any Federal attack out of Pine Bluff or by way of Gaines Landing etc. Most likely, Harrison's Louisiana boys were part of this bunch. I think Issac Harrison's cavalry.
