Re: James S. Jackson, b. 1839, Tn., please help

Hello. It appears that a James S. Jackson, born in Tenn. in probably 1839 shows up in
the census for Independence County in 1870.
It appears that he may have a new wife named Louisa who was born in Kentucky.
They had a one year old daughter, his son, William Preston Jackson, b. 1862 in Arkansas,
her son, Pleasant Henderson, b. 1863, later known as Jackson as a blended family.
The question is, did James S. Jackson serve during the Civil War?
I found a James Jackson listed with the 6th Cav, but he just disappears.
Did he or anyone live long enough to draw a pension?
My friend is not at her best and this sort of thing is good for her to think about.
All corrections and assistance are appreciated.
Thanks-
Linda
