My dad ( who was born in 1915) never met his grandfather, B.F. Howard, ( who died in 1902), but dad told me that when he was a boy, his grandmother showed him a small match box that contain pieces of bones that were removed from B.F.'s arm after being wounded at the Battle of Pea Ridge. B.F is buried at the Cherry Hill (Arkansas) cemetery.
He suffered in war. May he rest in peace.
