Bryan- Thank-you for posting the Company after action reports.The tragedy of that battle is shown in the terse report for Co. A. I had four ancestors (3 direct-1 by marriage) in Co. C. The footnote I refered to earlier is just a small example, I guess of "the winners get to write the history." A quick look at just co.C on the Gerdes site shows a roster of 87 men: 1 killed (my g-g uncle) 4 wounded, 25 "died in hospital" and 33 captured-of course most of these were "captured" at Vicksburg but an unlucky 2 are listed as captured twice, independent of the siege. I will follow with interest this thread on the burial places of the aformentioned men at various hospital sites in Miss.
