John T Rowden (Rouden or Routen)

Afternoon everyone,

Trying to hunt down more information about my great great grandfather John T Rouden (It was often misspelled as Rowden or Routen). My great grandfather is buried in Walton County, FL. (1861 - 1915). I really don't have much more to go by other than the link i'm posting for the widows pension claim which does tell me that he was May 6th, 1862 (Company K 37th reg. Alabama). It looks like the form says that he died in his home in 1862 in Pike County Alabama. I've seen where it says honorably discharged (disability) which makes me think he got hurt real bad in a battle.

The war department sent a reply to the pension claim in 1909 and stated that John T Rowden was not found on the rolls in the files in that department of Company K, 37th reg. Alabama. The prisoners of war records show however that one J. M. Routen Private Company K, 37th reg Alabama was captured July 4th, 1863 at Vicksburg, Mississippi and paroled July 10th, 1863 (same place) No other records found and they didn't even have J. M. Routen on the rolls as well.....

So lost and none of this makes sense. Maybe the date (Year of his death) is incorrect? Maybe the year of his death should have been 1863?

Trying to connect the dots, is this man my great great grandfather?

Here is the link for the site which contains the pension stuff https://www.floridamemory.com/items/show/175634?id=5
