Thanks Gentlemen for your replies.

My 2nd Great Grandfather, Griffin Lambert Pippin Sr. was born in 1803 in Edgecombe Co. NC, and it does seem that he was briefly in the 6th Florida. Now, he was a randy old goat and had children with several wives (I hope he married them all).

In any event my Great Grandfather Griffin Lambert Pippin Jr. was his son by my 2nd Great Grandmother, Leiza Taylor, also from Edgecombe Co. NC. I was a little shocked that gramps had gone Union and I wondered why until I uncovered a little more family dirt.

I'm still curious as to who the Griffin Pippin in the 33d Alabama is as well as the 2 other Pippins in the unit so I'm going to keep looking.

Griffin Sr. had 4 more sons in Florida regiments (the good guys). I'm going to post more on the Florida board but there doesn't seem to be much traffic there.
