William Wells, Private, Company G, 12th Regiment Alabama Cavalry,* enlisted April 25, 1864 at Gadsden, Ala. by Capt. Lakey for the war, last recorded present December 31, 1864, no further records

* This company subsequently became Company G, 12th Regiment Alabama Cavalry

M311: Compiled Service Records of Confederate Soldiers Who Served in Organizations from the State of Alabama

.................

I suspect this record would be that of William H. who would have turned 18 on April 6, 1864 and was then subject to Conscription in which the age limit had been lowered from 18 to 17 in February, 1864.

William W. would have reached the age of 17 on February 4, 1865 and may have been Conscripted before wars end in May. However, no muster rolls for Company G exist in the records subsequent to December 31, 1864, hence we would not be aware of his service with the 12th Alabama, if any.
