3rd AL Cavalry, Co. I

I see numerous post about this unit by Allen Pitts. it sounds like you are very knowledgeable maybe you can tell me if William Henry Taylor b1840 in Alabama is listed on any of the muster rolls I would also like any added info you can provide and photos if possible The following is all I have and no proof....

William H.Taylor served in the 3rd AL Cavalry, Co. I and received the Southern Cross of Honor for it. This unit was also called Tomlinson's and Lenoir's Independent Cavalry Battalion, before joining the 3rd. William is listed on the roster for Lenoir's Independent Co. of AL Cavalry. Known as the "Mathews Rangers", this company was recruited in Wilcox and Dallas Counties. Leaving Providence, Ala., Nov. 19, 1861, members mustered under Captain Boykin at Mobile, Ala., two days later. At Shiloh the company served with the 1st Alabama Cavalry Battalion. As Tomlinson’s and later Lenoir’s Alabama Cavalry Company, it was assigned to the 3rd Alabama Cavalry shortly after July 27, 1862, but continued on escort duty with Generals Withers and Hindman until April of 1864. Captain Lenoir was mortally wounded at Lay’s Ferry, Ga., May 14, 1864

Thank you for any help you can provide
