Re: 34th al infantry 22 july 1864, PVT Jesse Moran

George,

THANKS again.

It is not far fetched to believe that my great great Grandfather knew the Moran men in his company..

Just a few weeks ago I discovered that Brigadier General Arthur Middleton Manigault was not only Tom Guthrie's Brigade commander but also his wife's cousin through her Middleton's of S.C. line on her mother's side of the family.

I almost feel like I am piecing together a quilt or puzzle as more facts come into view. Silly I know, but it just how I feel. : ).

I have started working on a list of all the KNOWN dead at OAKLAND cemetery who were in MANIGAULT's Brigade who died before July 5th, 1864. The cemetery staff was gone on July 6th,1864. I believe they were back by the time Sherman left the city. I have to speak with their present sexton to get the exact date.

These were units : 24th and 34th Alabama and the 10th and the 19th South Carolina. Will post when back from vacation and have the info. right in front of me.

So bye for now,
Nancy J. Warren
