Lewis Brown, Private, Company D, 54th Regiment Alabama Infantry,* enlisted February 14, 1863 in Dale County, Alabama for 3 years or the war, recorded on July/August, 1863 muster roll as "Deserted from Dale Co., Ala. July 1, 1863, re-enlisted for the war from desertion October 10, 1863 at Pollard, Ala., received $50 bounty, recorded on November 1, 1863, 25 year old Farmer, grey eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5' 9", born in Dale County, Ala., admitted Ocmulgee Hospital, Macon, Ga. May 31, 1864, Dysentery, returned to duty June 20, no further records
Note: There are no surviving Company muster rolls subsequent to the Sept/October, 1863 roll, as such we are unable to follow his service beyond June 20, 1864
