The State of Alabama passed its first pension legislation during Reconstruction, not during the course of the war.
The claim presented by William Boyd on Aug 12, 1863, would have been for payments due the deceased soldier. These were made to agent William C Price, Arbacoochee AL. The soldier must have died some months earlier, cause of death almost certainly due to disease. A copy of the claim appears to be at the ADAH in Montgomery AL.
