Thank you for this info. I had planned to order the CSA records of this John Powers. But since we do not even know if he was present or absent at muster and there are no further records, I think I will save that money. I have a feeling that this is my missing g'g'g'grandfather since his wife never knew what happened to him.

But I would like to check out the John M. Powers, Private, in the Troup Co, GA 47th infantry (Co D?) before I relinguish my search. Are there records about him that would be worth purchasing?
