Re: Chickamauga Alabamians to Marietta
I have an ancestor that according to accounts I've seen, didn't die 'on the field' at Chickamauga, but rather died from wounds incurred during the battle. (Shot in the mouth. Died two days or three later.) So, I'm wondering how I would go about finding out where someone like that would be buried. He was from Barbour County, enlisted in Co. H, 39th regiment. I have no information that he was ever brought back and buried there.
