Who was Col. A.H. McClung?
Wed Oct 11 00:00:13 2000

Here's what I have on him:

McCLUNG, A.H., Colonel
Born in Huntsville on 7/4/1847. Civil war veteran. Service unknown. Died 4/26/1917 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Polk Funderburk. This home was probably in Columbus, Miss., but it was possibly in Pickens Co., Ala. The home of Henry P. Funderburk was in Columbus, when he died two years earlier.

As stated above, his daughter married Henry Polk Funderburk. Here is what I have on him:

FUNDERBURK, Henry Polk (Born in S.C. about 1847. Moved to Pickens Co. about 1852. Enlisted 9/10/1863 at Pickensville in Dupree's Independent Cavalry Company. This company sometimes served as Company D of the 12th Ala. and Miss. Cav. (aka 16th Confederate Cavalry and 12th Mississippi Cavalry). It was also sometimes attached to the 6th Alabama Cavalry, which was in the same brigade as the 12th Miss. and Ala. Cav. He transferred to the 7th Ala. Cav. Died 6/22/1915 at his home in Columbus, Miss.)

The only reference that I've found that is close is to a Capt. Andrew H. McClung, listed in Broadfoot's in the 79th Va. Militia, Company 4. Colonel might be his UCV rank.
