I have the following notes on Blackford from the 5th Alabama records:

Eugene Blackford. Appointed Major August [15,] 1862, to rank July 17, 1862; appointment recorded April 29, 1863. Dismissed by court martial on November 3, 1864. Sentence remitted by President Jefferson Davis, February 11, 1865.

As I recall, his file includes several pages on the courtmartial.

On a related subject, Blackford appears to have been in command of the regiment at Gettysburg, which was deployed in skirmish order on the afternoon of July 1st. Martin's "Gettysburg: the First Day" relates how Blackford maintained a connection between O'Neal's Brigade on Oak Hill and Doles' Georgia Brigade, which was in line of battle nearer the Harrisburg Road.
