I have a John McLendon listed with the 15th Al. Infan.; pvt.
I do not know if this unit was at Shiloh or not. If you call up the order of battle for Shiloh it will will list the units involved. Other States with a John McLendon: ARk. Ky. N.C., Fl.;

A John W. McLendon is with Co. H; 4th Ark. Infan.; pvt.

The Compiled Service Records of the John from the 15 Al can be found at the Al. Dept of Archives and Records in Montgomery or at major Libraries, for example B'Ham public Library. IF A Pension application, in this case a widows application, was filed it can be found at the Archives as well. Pension application are frequently good source of infomation.

It is highly unlikely that the National Park Service at Shiloh would have a list of wounded. They do not even have a good list of Confederates killed. Most were buried in two or three mass graves, without identification.

It is quite reasonable that he died several weeks after the battle of gangrene.

The John from Fl was in a unit formed at Campbellton, near the state line. Did he live near Campbellton?

Good Luck in your search
