Wayne, thanks for the possible leads. I will check them out. I have no idea what unit he was with. All I know is that John W. marrie in Mobile in 1861 and had a son, John William, born in Wayne County, MS. That son wound up first in Washington County, AL, and then Mobile County, AL. At this point, all things are possible... Thanks for your response. Carol
