Bob Hurst18th AlabamaFri Sep 8 12:07:40 2000 Periodically I have to travel to Washington City for business, and often I save myself time to visit the National Archives. The Archives have microfilmed records of most soldiers, though they often are very incomplete. Among those for my great granduncle was a typed note, transcribed from some original hand-written document, concerning his lost weapon. The Archives also have unit records, which also are very sketchy, but which make interesting reading. Most often these entries were made while in camp or after battles. In the records of the 10th Kansas Regiment of US Volunteer Infantry (my re-enacting progenitors), I read how they chased Marmaduke's cavalry on foot through Missouri and nearly caught them.18th Alabama Harry Stinson, Sat Sep 9 16:21 Some history of the 18th.
