Hello Jim,

Thanks for your very prompt reply, another reason that this board is one of my favorites.

Now about that age old question, which 5th Alabama did he serve? If it was the first unit on your list, would that be Van de Graaff's, Blount's, or some other?

Also, some time ago there was a post mentioning someone's particular interest in researching the 5th Alabama regiments. Was that Mr. Alan Pitts? I'll bet the diary might be of interest to such research.
