I have been over Willet's diary extensively. However, I have been unable to come up with a copy of Sprott's, yet.

What you have said, that it was formed primarily from Sumter Co. residents but perhaps not exclusively, fits well with my theory that the writer thought the reader would know that the company was formed primarily in Sumter, but was adding the information that it also had a number of men from Pickens and Mobile.

Yes, the census comparison would help shed some light on this.
