I am trying to find my grandfather's father. We do not know his name but my grandfather's name is William Cicero McNeal b. 5/1864 possibly Clay Co. AL or around Birmingham AL area. I am searching all the McNeals from AL who were in the Civil War. We were told Wms. father was in the Civil War and it is uncertain if he survived the war or not. His wife was Martha (Hall) McNeal. We have found her in the 1870 Calhoun Co. AL census and in the 1880 Roanoke, Randolph Co. AL census remarried.

What can you tell me about Pvt. William McNeal Co. L 28th Regt. AL?

My other grandfather is James Willis Amos Co. G 48Th AL Inf.
