Henry, you may be correct regarding the number of Southern men that were members of a church, exceeding the number that were Masons. I would be interested in seeing the numbers!

My limited experience has been, that every man that served the Confederacy which I have investigated, have proved to be Masons. Again you are correct, in that MOST proved to be members of a church (not all Christian)as well.

Many small towns didn't have a church, but they did have a Masonic Lodge.
