Bartley C. and Jacob Bibby enlisted in St. Clair County on May 9, 1862. The roll for Sept.-Oct. 1862 shows that Bartley was captured ("lost") in action at Hatchie Bridge on the Miss-Tenn. line on Oct. 5, 1862 and exchanged at Corinth MS a few days later (Oct. 13, 1862). No other records on him.

Jacob surrendered with his regiment as part of Moore's Brigade at Vicksburg MS on July 4, 1863, and exchanged on July 10th. The brigade reassembled in and around Demopolis where it was rearmed and sent to Chattanooga. Moore's Brigade was on the lower slopes of Lookout Mountain (between the cliffs overlooking the Tennessee River and Craven House) during the fighting on Nov. 24, 1863. The brigade was reassigned to the northern end of Missionary Ridge that night. Jacob Bibby was captured there during the great Confederate debacle the following day. He was forwarded to prison camp at Rock Island IL and finally released for exchange at Boulware's Wharf on the James River near Petersburg VA on March 5, 1865, along with 601 other Confederates. He received a 30-day furlough from Jackson hospital at Richmond VA on March 12, 1865. Of course the war ended a few weeeks later, in all likelihood before he returned to duty.

I've not had time to find the service record of D. M. Bibby who served with Co. "C", 18th Alabama, which was recruited around Cedar Grove AL (present-day Leeds).
